Presidents

Mr Chris Booth 2011 -


Chris started his career as a professional dancer, appearing on television and in summer seasons and pantomimes at many provincial theatres throughout the country. Together with his wife Kathy, he also choreographed numerous theatre productions before opening their successful stage school in Ellesmere Port, ‘The Chriska Stage School’.

Before commencing his professional stage career, he gained all his teaching qualifications with the Allied Dancing Association, and is now a Fellow and Examiner in all Theatre Branches, and holds Licenciate qualifications in the Standard Ballroom, Latin and Sequence Branch. In 2006 he was elected on to the Allied’s Executive Council, and also the Theatre Dance Council International and now holds the position of Treasurer for the TDCI.. He has also been a member of the UKA for over 30 years, and is a Member in all Theatre Branches.

Chris has adjudicated numerous Stage Festivals throughout the country to Championship level, including the British Championships at Blackpool, the English Championships in Manchester, and the Grand Finals of the Miss Dance and Dance Master of Great Britain in Blackpool for the I.D.T.A.




Mr David Hipshaw 2009 - 2011

 David started dancing in 1967 and took all his medals in all Ballroom Branches and then went on to compete.

In 1977 he joined the Allied Dancing Association as a Professional and opened  a full time Teaching School in1984.

He became an Examiner in The Ballroom, Latin and Old Time Branches in 1994 and was elected to the Executive Council in 2001.

He has represented the Allied Dancing Association on the Sequence Adviserery Committee since 2002 and  was elected President of the Association in 2009.

Glenys McGill 2005 - 2007


Glenys McGill

Glenys started dancing at the age of three and has been a Dance Teacher since 1967,and has taught at the Excelsior School of Dance in Liverpool since 1969, firstly as an Assistant teacher, then Head teacher and now Principal.She is also a freelance dance teacher and over the years has worked at many schools throughtout the North West.

In 1977 she was elected onto the Theatre Branch Committe and since then has served on the Committee as a Member, as Chairman and now as Secretary. 

In 1980 she was appointed Examinations Secretary of the Theatre  Branch. In 1981 she was elected onto the Executive Council. She is a Fellow and Examiner in all the Theatre Branches of the Allied.

Since 1983 she has represented the Allied as a delegate to the Theatre Dance  Council International and was elected President in 2005.

In 2003 Glenys was Carl Alan Awards - The Professional Teachers Award and for Outstanding Services to Dance

John started dancing at the age of 10 and joined Billy Martins Dance School when he was 15 where he met his wife Suzanne,  and together they competed for a number of years before turning Proffesional in 1967 and taught at the school until they bought the business in 1987 and renamed it Martins Dance Centre.

John was elected onto the Ballroom and Latin Committee in 1986 and elected onto the Excutive Council in 1989 and has represented Social dancing in all its forms with the introduction of Latino,Argentine Tango and Rock and Roll medals

Since 2003 he has represented the Allied Dancing Association on the BDC Teachers Committee, a body that deals with the varied enquiries relating to the social dance business.

He served as President from 1997 - 1999
